The film I have chosen is Fast and Furious 6
a. Identify three actors from your film and classify each according to the types of actors listed in your text.
One actor that I would say fits well into the wild card, and or a star role depending on the film, this would be Dwayne Johnson, then there is Paul Walker, he fit as a personality actor and last would be Vin Diesel as a wild card actor
b. Explain your reasons for classifying the actors as you do. Use specific references to the film and pay special attention to how these decisions impacted characterization. Also, consider the impact of any realistic or stylized portrayals within the film.
Starting with Dwayne Johnson, he began his career playing football to wrestling, then off to Hollywood as an actor. Some of the movies he has played in would be the scorpion king and the tooth fairy, although each of his movies has good fight scenes he can also be the loving caring type like he is in the tooth fairy and he can even do reality TV shows like The Hero where he gets the people on the show motivated to overcome their fears and become stronger as people.
Paul Walker was a well-known actor due to his performances in the Fast and Furious movies, prior to that he played in many smaller roles taking a long time before he was a lead actor. He began his career young starting in TV commercials to TV shows. Some of the roles he played were from 1998 Pleasantville as an innocent young man, high school football legend Lance Harbor in the 1999 film Varsity Blues. Most of his movies show him as a good guy, the same person he is on screen as he is off screen. To help with this he had a non-profit called reach out worldwide to reach less fortunate children a crossed the world.
Vin Diesel who is a wild card actor, he plays in many different films from fast racing movies like Fast and Furious to Pitch Black and XxX each of his movies though have left an impression on society. I had a hard time deciding on this though because he also fits the role of a personality actor, being that he started acting at a young age and it took him years before he made his mark on the film industry, but what changed this for me was when he played chronicles of Riddick and was nominated as the worst actor
c. Focus on one of the actors you’ve discussed. Based on other films the actor has been in, would this actor always be placed in the same category? If so, what does this say about the category or actor? If not, what can you infer about the flexibility of these categories? Provide evidence (references from other films, including film clips and stills) to support your argument.
I would like to focus on Dwane Johnson and I would say that yes being a wild card he would be the same for each film, some people would see him in a certain field but he does have a wide variety of films like the tooth fairy leaving him with the wild card category.

In the clip for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, they play music throughout that helps build the suspense to each scene. They also have the birds acting as if they are communicating between each other to warn Snow White as part of the dialogue, along with Snow White and the witch whom were talking back and forth about the apple. The sound effects were few and far between, they used them to simulate the door being slammed and for lightning and thunder as part of the suspense build up. The sounds that were used built almost a scary scene in the clip that I had watched, this helped establish the basis of the storyline for the rest of the movie. The sound shows that something is going to happen, many hints were put out there simply by the background music becoming more thrilling as snow white was about to eat the apple along with showing the birds concerned because of all the chirping that came from nowhere. The closest thing that I could come up with for a genre strictly from the sounds would be that it’s a romance, suspense the reason I would say that is because snow white was talking about how she wanted love with a prince right before she took a bite from the apple that made her go to sleep, I would say the suspense part because as the music becomes more thrilling as each bad event happens and less thrilling when the scene calms down. The sounds that were played in this clip seemed over exaggerated, mostly you hear background music that tells you something is about to happen and tries to bring your attention into the scene. When sound effects were used they were used just to enhance the moment, I think if you removed the background music you wouldn’t know that certain things are going to happen, without hearing the suspense build up it would be hard to understand why the witch is giving snow white an apple and what’s so bad about that apple.

Identify the type of lighting used in the film (traditional three-point, high-key, or low-key).
The movie I decided for this is Fast and Furious Six once again, the main thing I noticed in this movie is it used a variation of forms of lighting depending on the scene, so one scene that I will go with is the plane crashing.. I believe they went with low lighting/ three point because they wanted to focus on mostly the explosion of the plane but I had a hard time being for sure because It also looked like they used Interactive lighting throughout most of the movie
Assess the impact of the lighting used to establish the theme. I would say the point of lighting interactively would be to help with fast moving things and to give the people the feeling like they are right with the actor. The action in this movie also is focused on not just from camera angles but also from the lighting by allowing the lights to stay moving throughout the movie
What are the benefits of the style of lighting used? One main benefit I see with this for lighting is it helps keep the focus on one specific thing or the main people and not so much on the backround
How did this technique contribute to the theme?
How was the lighting technique suited to the genre of the film? For example, documentary films tend to rely on natural light as a way of creating an overall tone of authenticity. With many action movies and street racing the best kind of light is either natural or interactive because it helps show the cars moving along with many other things moving.
Compare how the scene would play if different choices had been made. If they had gone with a still light form I don’t think this movie would have made it into theaters just because of the lack of distinguished actors or scenes.
The film I plan to use is Fast & Furious 6, the main actors in it would be Vin Diesel, Paul Walker Dwayne Johnson, Chris Bridges, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Michelle Rodriguez, Luke Evans, Gina Carano and John Ortiz. The writer of this movies screen play is Chris Morgan and the director is Justin Lin and the movie was released in 2013. The film follows a chronological order however was released out of chronological order for the whole series of films. One of the main reasons for this was because the third movie released took a whole turn into a new direction with other actors and many people felt disappointed but to bring back the power of the beginning two I believe they created a story that blended several movies together to make one long story line from different peoples’ views. Without following chronological order during the movie I feel that the movie would not make sense to people. When (Dwayne Johnson) or Hobbs comes to (Vin Diesel) or Torreto to tell him he wants to work with him, this took a major turn in character development from prior films because the once good guy is now teaming up with the bad guy to catch a new bad guy at this point in the series of movies not too many people expected something like this, but because this happened it allowed for a more in depth view of each of the characters of what they are willing to fight for and how far they are willing to go to do what they feel is right. Now it may be because I love this movie and series I don’t see how they could have played this movie any better if they had gone more with a less suspenseful story line I feel that the series would have come to an end, but because they didn’t this movie brought people to the edge of their seats to watch it.
