Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs

In the clip for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, they play music throughout that helps build the suspense to each scene. They also have the birds acting as if they are communicating between each other to warn Snow White as part of the dialogue, along with Snow White and the witch whom were talking back and forth about the apple. The sound effects were few and far between, they used them to simulate the door being slammed and for lightning and thunder as part of the suspense build up. The sounds that were used built almost a scary scene in the clip that I had watched, this helped establish the basis of the storyline for the rest of the movie. The sound shows that something is going to happen, many hints were put out there simply by the background music becoming more thrilling as snow white was about to eat the apple along with showing the birds concerned because of all the chirping that came from nowhere. The closest thing that I could come up with for a genre strictly from the sounds would be that it’s a romance, suspense the reason I would say that is because snow white was talking about how she wanted love with a prince right before she took a bite from the apple that made her go to sleep, I would say the suspense part because as the music becomes more thrilling as each bad event happens and less thrilling when the scene calms down. The sounds that were played in this clip seemed over exaggerated, mostly you hear background music that tells you something is about to happen and tries to bring your attention into the scene. When sound effects were used they were used just to enhance the moment, I think if you removed the background music you wouldn’t know that certain things are going to happen, without hearing the suspense build up it would be hard to understand why the witch is giving snow white an apple and what’s so bad about that apple.
